With your Horizon pension, you’re already making a valuable provision for your own financial future; however, your pension can also benefit your loved ones if you die whilst you’re a member of the Scheme.
This could make a real difference to them at a difficult and stressful time.
Certain death benefits from your Horizon pension are paid at the discretion of the Scheme’s Trustee, although they will usually follow your wishes when it comes to deciding who should benefit.
You just need to fill in some simple information regarding your nominated beneficiaries so the Trustee has the information they need. It’s really important to keep these details up to date in case your wishes or circumstances change.
Whether you’ve never completed an Expression of Wish form, or it’s been a while since you last updated it, we recommend you update your wishes.
You should still complete an Expression of Wish even if you've made a Will. Your pension is usually not included as part of your estate, so you should let the Trustee know who you wish to receive your benefits.
An Expression of Wish is needed for each of the Capita pension schemes you're a part of.
If you filled out an Expression of Wish request prior to the launch of the updated portal in January 2023, whilst this information is held on your record, it won’t be visible on your online account. You should still therefore update this so that the portal reflects your current wishes and update it in future if your circumstances change.
You can complete an Expression of Wish for Horizon by logging on, or registering (if you haven’t already), to the Portal.
Just go to portal.hartlinkonline.co.uk/horizon to get started.
