Contributing towards my pension

If you’re still a contributing member, including those accruing Career Average Revalued Earnings (CARE) benefits, then you will still be building up benefits in the Scheme. Contributions will be deducted monthly from your salary before you pay tax and National Insurance. You can find out the current value of your pension on your annual benefit statement.

Your pension is a defined benefit, calculated based on years of service, your salary and an accrual rate. It is possible to increase the pension you will receive from the Scheme by paying Additional Voluntary Contributions (AVCs). These will be held separately with an external provider in a money purchase arrangement and invested according to your wishes. If you wish to set up AVCs please contact the Horizon Pension Team.

You can register for the Portal by going to portal.hartlinkonline.co.uk/horizon and clicking on ‘Register’. You’ll need your National Insurance number and then you can follow the on-screen instructions.

All the data we provide on the Portal, and that you provide to us, is kept securely on our administration system. We’ll only ever email you with relevant information about the Scheme and we’ll only share data with third parties where necessary or reasonable to do so for the purposes of administering the Scheme.
